How To Change Your Habit (To Change Yourself)

Have you ever had difficulty trying to change a habit?
Human beings are creatures of habit. We tend to continue acting as we have acted in the past. Like a river flowing through a canyon, the longer a habit continues, the more deeply it becomes rooted, and the harder it is to change.

This is true of all habits, good or bad.
Ephesians 4:22-24 shows that major changes must occur when we are converted to serve God. Old practices and attitudes must be replaced by new ones. Christians must learn good habits like Bible study, prayer, love, faith, patience, attending church meetings, giving, teaching others, etc. We must also eliminate bad habits like foul language, uncontrolled temper, gambling, drugs, smoking, drinking, gossip, lying, pornography, sexual promiscuity, etc.
Knowing what changes to make is not enough. We also need to know how to make them. Change does not come easily. Since the Scriptures provide us to all good works (2 Timothy 3:16,17), they give all the guidance we need. God's word is the best source of guidance for self-help and motivation for self-improvement.
Let us study 12 specific, practical steps the Bible gives to show us how to change and improve our selves to become what God wants ...

You Have The Potential to Create Prosperity

Abundant prosperity is a built in potential God has put inside each one of us.
Just because you are unable to see the potential inside yourself at any given moment does not mean it is not there.
You can’t see your emotions or your thoughts, but they are real, and they do exist.

How do you reveal that built in potential and tap into it?
This powerful formula is simple, but extremely effective, and gets results. It’s been taught and explained in many different ways over the years. Why? In an attempt to get people to live the life they were designed to live. How sad to see people go to the grave never accomplishing that thing they were created to do!

Choose To Be Happy

Almost everyone has heard the hit single 'Don't Worry, Be Happy' by Bobby McFerrin. The song has a very catchy way of conveying its message of being happy to everyone. Bobby McFerrin's simple message surely made an impression on a lot of people by telling them not to worry.

Living a happy, resilient and optimistic life is wonderful, and is also good for your health. Being happy actually protects you from the stresses of life. Stress is linked to top causes of death such as heart disease, cancer and stroke.

One of the better things ever said is - 'The only thing in life that will always remain the same is change', and in our life we have the power to make the necessary changes
(Acts 1:8)

Have A Prosperity Mindset

Do you feel prosperous in every area of your life? If you're like most people, you probably feel blessed in some areas, but maybe not so much in others. It is possible to expand your mindset to not only see more prosperity around you but also attract more prosperity into your life.

First, it's important to recognize the difference between a mindset of prosperity and scarcity/fear/lack.

Someone focused in scarcity/fear/lack believes there is never enough to go around: never enough money, resources, love, opportunity, friendship, passion, excitement or fulfillment. This person erroneously perceives a shortage

DREAM BIG

There is no magic formula to believing in your dreams and actualizing it.
It needs hard work,  knowing and understanding what you have to do to reach your goal. It is much like building a home; before you start building, you have to create the dream of what the house is going tolook like, its structure and design, and that's precisely what I am talking about - DREAM BIG
Here is how:

Disagreements Can Weaken Your Marriage Easily

Every relationship has its share of disputes, like them or not, and they must be dealt with.

One of the things that leads to divorce are unresolved disputes that a couple has had. Like it or not, every couple in a relationship can’t agree all the time so it is important that you learn how to come up with a solution to solve disputes.

Discussing a disagreement right after it happens is so much better than waiting until later to try to solve it. It is vital to resolve the issue at hand right there before the problem gets any bigger. Even though you can’t always avoid a disagreement, by changing the way you talk will make a difference. Know that no one wins when you argue with each other.

Christian Marriage and Sex

The time has come for us as believers to change our distorted image of sex. God created sex, but over the years some Christians have come to view sex as something invented by the world. Well, here's news for you, Big Brother did not invent sex! God Almighty did, and there's nothing nasty or dirty about it.

How to Eliminate Worry

What is Worry?
Webster's Dictionary defines worry as "to feel uneasy or troubled". Worry is a non-value added activity. Dorothy Galyean says, "Worry is like a rocking chair... it gives you something to do but it doesn't get you anywhere. Another definition says: Worry is thoughts, images and emotions of a negative nature in which mental attempts are made to avoid anticipated potential threats. Worry is the product of feverish imagination working under the stimulus of desires. It is a necessary resultant of attachment to the past or to the anticipated future, and it always persists in some form or other until the mind is completely detached from everything.

MUSIC IS A GIFT – CHOOSE WISELY

Music is an art that, in one guise or another, permeates every human society.
Modern music is heard in a bewildering profusion of styles, many of them contemporary, others engendered in past eras. Music is a protean art; it lends itself easily to alliances with words, as in song, and with physical movement, as in dance. Throughout history, music has been an important adjunct to ritual and drama and has been credited with the capacity to reflect and influence human emotion.

DECLINE OF MORAL VALUES AMONG TODAY'S YOUTHS

What are Morals?
They are acceptable standard of general conduct or behavior when judged by an average person or the society at large.
Morality is all about the appropriateness or goodness of what a person does, thinks, or feels.

DEVELOPMENT OF MORALS
Childhood is the time at which moral standards begin to develop in a process that often extends well into adulthood.
Understanding all forms of social awareness are important in the development of a child’s moral sense.
Some psychologists are of the theory that people's development of moral standards passes through stages that can be grouped into three moral levels.

RESISTING THE DEVIL! HOW?

One primary cause lurks behind the suffering and tragic circumstances that afflict so many people. The Scripture reveals that a powerful, intelligent and seemingly infinitely influential being actively ochestrates the wickedness that dominate our planet – Earth.
Most of us have heard of him, you may have wondered whether he really exists.
After all, to many he seem like a fairy-tale character; I am talking about SATAN.
Does such a being exist? Where could such a creature have come from? What is his purpose, his goal, his intent? What does he do? Is he as many believe, simply a mythical embodiment of evil?

PARENTING AS A MARITAL TEAM

If you hope to survive parenthood with your marriage intact you must be in unity with your spouse in all you do.
Being 'in unity' means understanding that this is not a one-person show.
The strength of your union will show in the day-to-day application of the plan with your spouse. No matter how much the two of you agree to make your parenting and discipline decisions together, there will be times where one of you is put in a position of having to make immediate decision.

TREAT YOUR SPOUSE WITH RESPECT

Men and women converse differently and they have distinctive needs.

A woman may desire to share her feelings openly and often.  Many men on the other hand try to maintain peace by solving problems quickly and avoiding difficult issue.  How then can you bridge these differences and have a healthy conversation with your spouse?

A respectful person values others and wants to understand their feelings.
As a child, you may have learned to respect people who have more authority or experience than you have.
In marriage, the challenge is to show respect to someone with whom you are on an equal footing – your spouse.

If you can listen patiently and speak respectfully to friends, are you just as considerate to your spouse?

FIVE KEYS TO SUCCESS IN MARRIAGE

In a world of changing standards, marriage is no longer held in high esteem. Couples stay together until thier physical attraction wanes or problems arise; and what is surprising is that couples separate or divorce as if it is going out of fashion-on very flimsy excuses. The unlucky children are left in the wake of this unfavourable event-traumatized.
Now, the erosion of marriage values and its effect on family life should concern us particularly because children are always caught up in the back-lash of this (sometimes unnecessary) event.
As a result of the foregone, we should take comfort from the scriptures because the tried and tested advice inherent in them is handy in times like this and if we can just consider the following five principles, a world of difference will be achieved.
